Over this period, the PVAXX Group has applied for, and in some cases has been granted patents and otherwise generated other intellectual property for a number of formulations, processes, equipment and products. It has developed two product groups suitable for commercialisation.
The first of these is P2, a biocompostable material, which is currently licensed to, and in production by, a number of companies for a range of biodegradable products. The Group has more recently developed a strong, versatile and economic material called Siluma made from sand, polyethylene and a unifier. Siluma is easily and cheaply mass-produced and is suitable for use as a replacement for timber, metal and plastic in the manufacture of a variety of products.
The Company took the decision to focus the commercialisation of Siluma on the world-wide pallet market, a global market which is extensive, highly fragmented and growing at around four per cent. per annum. Driven largely by environmental considerations, plastic pallets are increasing market share at the expense of wooden pallets. PVAXX will be able to compete with traditional plastic pallets on price and volume, due to its development of both the Siluma technology and automated, rotational moulding production lines.
In 2005, a pilot production plant was established in Dubai to refine the manufacturing process, develop training and produce PVAXX Pallets for laboratory and field trials. In the same year, the Group leased a site in Sohar Industrial Port, Oman, where it intends to build a facility to produce PVAXX Pallets for the global market through its wholly owned subsidiary, PVAXX Industries LLC. |
